Don't miss this fun event.
It's a perfect opportunity to invite your friends along to enjoy an evening
out on the water. Cruise and dine on a buffet which will include a salad,
choice of two entrees, two vegetables and assortment of desserts. The open
bar will offer beer and wine, and cash bar for mixed drinks. The price is
$56 per person including tax. This is a private charter and only NERYC members and
guests will be on board. We will return to the club after dinner to continue
the fun. Reserve early.
Shakedown Cruise
When: April 25-26
Where: Summit North
Marina on the C & D Canal
This
years “Shakedown Cruise” will be the weekend of April 25-26. We will be
heading up the C & D Canal to the Summit North Marina for the festivities.
Summit has all floating docks, water and electric, a picnic area for our
Saturday evening happy hour and possibly a restaurant. (I’m hoping it will
be open by then). All this for the low, low price of $1.25 a foot/ night
plus $5/ night for electric. As an added bonus, since this is the
“shakedown” for the season, I have arranged with the Bear West Marine Store
for a 10% discount on all maintenance and safety items for the weekend for
NERYC members. For those of you coming by boat, your fleet captain will be
providing a car for you to make the quick trip to the store to do all your
beginning of the season shopping! Remember to bring your membership card to
receive your discount. Saturday afternoon at 1630, we will commence with the
traditional fleet happy hour. You provide munchies and snacks and $8 per
person or $15 per couple for the Fleet Captains Locker. The Locker will
provide beer, wine, water, soft drinks, and J&B! Whether you plan to come
by boat, car, sea plane or foot, please mark your calendars and RSVP to me
with your boat requirements, ( LOA, electric, arrival day) and plan to start
the cruising season with a bang. The remainder of our cruising season is
shaping up nicely, and while not finalized here is the tentative scheduled.
Memorial Day Weekend –
May 23-25

Baltimore Yacht Club on Sue Island, Middle
River
 This
is a private yacht club and since it is their Opening Weekend the only slips
that will be available will be those that will be vacated by members.
There is usually no slip fee and all slips will be assigned on a first come
first serve basis. The slips range in size from 20' to 74' with one T-Head.
They have a fuel dock, bath house, club house, bar, restaurant, & pool.

Independence Day Fireworks
When: July 3rd
Where: Dockside at NERYC Northeast River
The Independence Day marina
party will coincide with North East fireworks with beverages available for
Fleet Captain’s locker.
The slip holders on “A” dock will have all members as guests for the event. Decorate
your boats and yourself in RED, WHITE, &
BLUE, and join us to view Northeast’s Firework display.
Mid-Summer Cruise
When: July 18-19
Where: Crescent Yacht
Club, Middle River
Located a little further up
Middle River than BYC, this is yet another private club in a great setting,
with which we enjoy reciprocity. Friendly members and $10 slip fee per boat,
make it a great deal.
Labor Day Weekend Cruise
When: Sept 5-7
Where: Kent Island

The Kent Island Yacht
Club, snug on the Kent Island Narrows (N38° 58.03’, W76° 14.82’), is easily
reached by land from US 50/301 at exit 41. By water from the Chester River
to the north or Prospect Bay to the south, yachters find a hospitable haven
easily accessible from the Chesapeake Bay.

Frostbite destination favorite, Sassafras Harbor located seven nautical miles up the Sassafras River on the North side before
the Sassafras
River Bridge. They have a swimming pool, air-conditioned bathrooms,
washer/dryer facilities, picnic/grilling areas, and an air-conditioned
activities center, which has a game room with video games, pool tables and a
ping-pong table. The upstairs is an open room used as a lounge or can
be rented out for private parties. Cable TV is available in the
upstairs rooms.
